Implementing Churches With A Contemplative Nature

 Contemplative Life

THE NATURE OF A CONTEMPLATIVE CHURCH

  • Discipleship evangelism: Making apprentices of Christ and letting conversion happen.
  • Devoted entirely to the spiritual formation of those in attendance.
  • Emphasis on encouraging the sheep to participate and not spectate.
  • Emphasis on the treasure; the Trinitarian presence of God, not the vessel; all the other stuff.
  • Worship bathed in periods of reflection and listening.
  • Intercessory prayer and storytelling within the gathered time.
  • A strong missional component to the needs of the marginalized within each community
  • Help people get heaven in them now as they await eternity.
  • Help people lead their life, their actual existence, as Jesus would lead their life if He were they.

PLANTING A NEW OR TRANSFORMING AN EXISTING LOCAL CONGREGATION

A NEW PLANT

  • Identify a group of 5-10 like-minded apprentices of Christ and begin to meet within the nature and desires above.
  • Meet literally wherever it is feasible.
  • Build in to new shepherds for the sheep as we multiply.
  •  Birthing and multiplying a new community of 25-30.
  • Training existing elders and overseers what it means to be an apprentice of Jesus
  • Immersing the now apprentices into the Trinitarian presence inhabiting and enclosing the community.
  • Intending and arranging for the inner transformation of apprentices; teaching them to do all that Jesus commanded.
  • Keeping an aura of expectation before the community to do as Jesus did and taught.
  • Constantly put before the community the how or means to fulfill the expectation.
