Love God and Do What You Want

Love God and Do what You Want-RADICAL to say the least.

But that is life in the Kingdom, life lived in the center of God’s will. This is the result of what we have been talking about the past few months when we have discussed confidence in Christ which moves us to obedience  to abide with Him through the spiritual practices and obey His commandments.

When we drill down and think critically into this radical thought we see if we truly love God all we will ever want to do  is His will. I have mentioned the Bonhoeffer quote several times but it is profound and cannot be quoted enough when he told his seminary students “Do not worry if you are being bad or good but focus on being in the will of God.” This loving God and doing what we want empowers us to do His works, His will in this world and let us keep in mind that the world we live in desperately needs His works, His will to be done. As apprentices we then are the vessels He uses to bring light into the darkness. But as a light bulb can only be lit through connected to a power source we can only be light as we abide or our connected to the power source of our Triune God.

So there you have the whole plan to living now an eternal kind of life.

A life that:

  • Revitalizes the hearts of God’s people.
  • Repositions the Church to move with God.
  • Restores the reputation of Christ in our culture.
  • Rescues the multitudes from an eternity apart from God one life at a time.

You see the goal of being an apprentice of Christ has nothing to do with being a super Christian but all about a life transformed ready to being poured out as light in a very dark world.

A life Paul described in Philippians 2: 3-11

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:Who, being in very nature God,did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death  even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.

Have you caught the vision? Ready to get intentional? Execute the means?
