Personal Mentoring:


What is it?

Personal mentoring will help you to form a closer relationship with God/Jesus. It will also help empower you to understand some of the age-old questions that we all ponder.

Why am I here?
What happens next?

These are "deep" questions that many of us have not spent a lot of time thinking about. Entering into a personal mentoring relationship will provide a catalyst, environment, and focus to help you tackle these issues.

There is no set formula for personal mentoring. However it must also be realized that certain committments must be made if there is to be value in the personal mentoring relationship.

Mentor

He/she is committed to creating an atmosphere of trust, accountability, and confidentiality with the mentoree.

He/she is knowledgeable in scripture, prayer, listening, and spiritual disciplines.

He/she seeks to live a life of Godliness and exhibit a character of Christlikeness.

He/she has discernment in recognizing the work of God in the life of the mentoree.

He/she is confirmed by others to live a life of authentic Christianity.

Mentoree

He/she desires authentic spritiual growth and maturity in Christ.

He/she desires to devote his/her life to God.

He/she is committed to be responsive and respectful of the studies presented by the mentor.

He/she will be obedient, submissive, teachable, and faithful during the mentoring experience.

He/she is willing to share intimate life issues.

These are just some of the guidelines, observations, and elements that make up a rewarding mentor-mentoree relationship. All of the RM mentors have themselves been mentorees in the past. Remember there is no "set formula" for this experience. It is as diverse as the life experiences of both the mentor and mentoree with the power of the Holy Spirit working within you both.
